University of Leicester researcher Dr Oxana Golynker to speak at free public event on Thursday 19 January

Issued by University of Leicester Press Office on 16 January 2017

Leading experts will be coming to Leicester to answer significant questions about Brexit during a free public panel discussion on Thursday 19 January.

Dr Oxana Golynker, lecturer in European Union Law and Employment Law from the University of Leicester School of Law, will be on the panel, offering a unique perspective based on her research into European Union citizenship as a status and the rights attached to it, and cross-border social solidarity.

Other experts on the panel include Catherine Barnard, Professor in European Union Law and Employment Law at the University of Cambridge, Anand Menon, Professor of European Politics and Foreign Affairs at Kings College London and Director of the UK in a Changing Europe Initiative and Jonathan Portes, principal research fellow of the National Institute of Economic & Social Research.

It has been more than six months since Britain voted to leave the EU and there are now just weeks to go before the government triggers Article 50 to begin Brexit negotiations.

Yet there remains remarkably little clarity about what will happen to our trade, our immigration system or our rights.

The free event, which is organised by The Conversation and The UK in a Changing Europe, is an open forum in the Banks Lounge at King Power stadium, home of Leicester City.

Everyone is welcome to come along on 19 January to get a better idea of what the future may look like for the UK outside the EU.
