Global leadership development company Vistage, with over 23,000 members across the world, is holding its Open Day on Friday 28 October at the King Power Stadium in Leicester where more than 150 CEOs, MDs and business leaders from across the UK will be convening as part of the Leicester Business Festival.

The Vistage Open Day event is organised in partnership with University of Leicester and will feature a lively and engaging discussion on ‘The Business Model’ providing useful tips and methodologies to companies to help them determine if their business is scalable and ready for growth ambitions.

The workshop is led by keynote speaker Glen Daley, winner of the Vistage Speaker of the Year award 2009 and 2015.

Glen’s consulting experience covers a wide range of businesses from insurance to retail, manufacturing to construction and includes both non-profit and government organisations.

The Business Model Audit workshop will use a systematic method to test current business models for fit and robustness, helping businesses to be able to answer questions such as:

  • How well does it meet their requirements in their chosen market?
  • Is the business leaving money on the table?
  • Is the business model resilient enough to be competitive over the business cycle?
  • Is it adaptable (scalable) enough to fulfil the longer term goals and ambitions of the business?

Professor Zoe Radnor, Dean of the School of Business and Professor of Service Operations Management at University of Leicester, will close the session with an insight into how businesses can gain competitive advantage by working with the University of Leicester through research and development as well as how they can access funded innovation support through the University to help develop and introduce innovative products, services and processes.

Professor Radnor said: The excellent relationship developing between Vistage and the University of Leicester is a great example of mutually beneficial partnership working; the partnership makes it easier for the thousands of growth oriented Vistage member companies to utilise the wealth of expertise, skills, facilities and technologies and subsidised innovation support from the University of Leicester to develop competitive advantage and profitability while making it easier for the University to engage with companies interested in innovation, skills development and growth”.

The University of Leicester, along with Vistage member companies, is also exhibiting at the event on the 28th October to showcase expertise and support available through the Leicester School of Business and the Leicester Innovation Accelerator in the Innovation Hub programme. Vistage offers a unique combination of resources for accelerating business performance: monthly meetings with non-competitive business peers; one-to-one executive coaching & mentoring sessions; expert speakers and interactive workshops; a rich online library of content, best practices, webinars, as well as access to a global member network of more than 23,000 business leaders.

Chris Everard, Group Chairman of East Midlands Vistage, added: “The Open Day, as part of the Leicester Business Festival and in conjunction with the University of Leicester promises to be one of the most powerful Open Days Vistage have run for some time.

“Glen scored 95% and 94% at his last 2 presentations - these are quite remarkable scores.

“The session looks at the business plan and all of its elements so it is a fantastic session for Managing Directors, Owner Managers & CEO’s to bring their senior management teams to. It is relevant to all businesses, irrelevant of size and will provide real value for all attendees.”

The Vistage and University of Leicester event, organised in association with the Leicester Business Festival, will take place on Friday 28 October 2016 at the King Power Stadium between 8:00am – 2:15pm.

Some feedback captured by Vistage via their feedback forms after Glen's last session:

What Worked Well:

  • It all worked well
  • The power of saying no
  • Glen’s insight - the material and delivery helped me focus on what’s important
  • He nailed it for me
  • The process was brilliant
  • A great opportunity to review my business - elevates us up to that detached, higher view
  • Helps me shift the debate from value for money to the value proposition
  • He didn’t lecture us but rather offered us a framework I can use back at the ranch.
  • Very engaging, he connected with us very easily
  • The models are robust and valuable
  • Great energy and a clear narrative
  • Hugely relevant - I’m excited!
  • It was fun, he captured the room
  • I know the model but he adds value because he keeps it simple
  • It’s not about him, it’s about the group
