University of Leicester wins award for Prospect Research Analytics for use of reporting in fundraising

Issued by University of Leicester Press Office on 26 November 2015

The University of Leicester has won a top national award for Prospect Research Analytics recognising the development of effective reporting within the Development and Alumni Relations Office.

Prospect research involves identifying potential supporters, developing both management and reporting systems for an organisations fundraising operations. The University’s dynamic approach to reporting using a method called a Pyramid Pipeline won the ‘Prospect Research Analytics' category at the annual national awards.

Delegates from the University’s Development and Alumni Relations Office attended the Institute of Fundraising – Researchers in Fundraising Awards on 24 November to collect the award for their Pyramid Pipeline Report.

The organisers said: “This award recognises a project or initiative that has been centred on the analysis and interpretation of quantitative or qualitative data to efficiently and successfully drive a fundraising campaign forward.”

Using effective visualisation methods, the University’s Prospect Researchers were able to increase the efficiency of the reporting process within the department and encourage the completion of information within the database to enable effective forecasting of financial figures.

Steve O’Connor, Director of Development and Alumni Relations said: “This award reflects our innovative and responsible approach to Fundraising and alumni engagement and we are proud to have been recognised by the Institute of Fundraising (IoF) for our work in this area. It is especially gratifying given the strong competition in the awards from the leading charities and higher education institutions.”

This award is the latest in a string of accolades for the Development and Alumni Relations team, who earlier this year won silver at the Heist awards for ‘Best Alumni and Fundraising Campaign’ and is the third consecutive year the Prospect Research team has been recognised by the IoF having won the Prospect Research Innovation award in 2013 and were runners up in the Analytics category in 2014.
