Marketing and fundraising expertise at the University of Leicester has been recognised once again by a national competition showcasing marketing excellence with two wins at this year’s Heist awards.

The University’s Development and Alumni Relations Office has received a silver award for ‘Best Alumni Development or Fundraising Campaign’ while the Marketing Communications Office has been recognised for ‘Best Postgraduate Prospectus’ with a silver award.

The internationally recognised annual Heist Awards for Education Marketing have evolved over more than twenty years to become the premier awards programme for marketing in the further and higher education sectors. They are now in their 25th year.

The silver award for ‘Best Alumni Development or Fundraising Campaign’ was awarded for the University’s Fledgling Legacy Programme, which saw staff create an innovative legacy stewardship programme on a tight budget that has been highly successful in securing increased pledged philanthropic support.

The judges described the programme as ‘a comprehensive approach that has produced sterling results remarkably quickly’.

Rosie O’Connor, Development Officer, said: “We are over the moon to have won the award, especially considering the stiff competition among the nominees. We do what we do to help ensure the wonderful work we do here at the University continues long into the future, recognition of the passion and dedication it has taken to get this programme off the ground by the entire team is a wonderful bonus.”

The judges described the University’s award-winning postgraduate prospectus as ‘a professional, well presented prospectus with a warm, customer focused tone’.

Rob Harding, Marketing and Communications Manager, said: “It’s great that the work on our postgraduate prospectus has been recognised at these prestigious national awards. My thanks go to everyone across the University who help put together the prospectus for their time, commitment, creativity and enthusiasm.”

The winners were announced at the 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner at The Palace Hotel in Manchester, attended by members of the University’s Marketing Communications Office and Development and Alumni Relations Office.
