Leicester Diabetes Centre staff fundraising with Christmas carols

Issued by the Leicester Diabetes Centre on 4 December 2015

Health researchers will be swapping their journals for their song sheets to bring a bit of festive cheer to commuters at Leicester station.

A team from Leicester Diabetes Centre will be singing carols at the city’s train station on London Road and collecting for diabetes research through the Leicester Hospitals Charity.

They will be singing between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, December 15, as part of the centre’s annual Christmas tradition.

Dr Marian Carey, one of the organisers, said: “While we might be a big national and international research centre specialising in Type 2 diabetes, we are also part of the community with plenty of local roots. This is our way of spreading a bit of Christmas cheer.”

The Leicester Diabetes Centre is an international centre of excellence in diabetes research, education and innovation led by Professor Melanie Davies and Professor Kamlesh Khunti.

Hosted at Leicester General Hospital, the centre is a partnership between the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University of Leicester.
