University of Leicester ASDEC site to run events for East Midlands businesses throughout September

Issued by University of Leicester Press Office on 1 September 2014

East Midlands small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are invited to attend a series of events run by the Advanced Structural Dynamics Evaluation Centre (ASDEC), the UK’s first commercial robotized 3D scanning laser structural dynamics centre, in order to understand the centre’s work and how it can benefit engineering projects.

Supported by experts at the University of Leicester and sited at the MIRA technology park in the heart of the Midlands, ASDEC offers non-contact vibration measurement and analysis at its purpose built centre and supports all research, design and development activities in the engineering and manufacturing industries.

The Centre has been developed by the University of Leicester and funded by grants from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

During the month of September ASDEC will be holding a roadshow of events to showcase its capabilities to enterprises. These will be on the following dates and locations:

Tim Stubbs, General Manager at ASDEC, said: “3D Laser vibrometry is not just for big business and here at ASDEC, through our ERDF grant funding, we are able to support the testing and development needs of Small and Medium Enterprises.

“This roadshow is to take the message to these companies and show how we can benefit their engineering projects by bringing expertise in structural dynamics using state of the art facilities normally out of reach of Small and Medium Enterprises.”

The events will be running at various destinations throughout the East Midlands between 8 – 12 September.
