Latest success story from recipient of support from University of Leicester's Enterprise Inc. programme

Issued by University of Leicester Press Office on 13 November 2013

Suleman Sacranie, who was awarded a start-up bursary of £2,500 and business support through the Enterprise Inc. programme, has secured a multi-million pound deal for his new business venture - Mad About Deals - which specialises in online sales and distribution of discounted deals and clearance stock.

He was named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2012 Midlands Business Awards for his achievements, which included setting up 99p Shopper and 99p Wholesaler.

Suleman is one of the stars of a new BBC programme called the Million Dollar Intern, which sees him pose as an intern as he attempt to re-energise a failing business from the bottom up.

After completing the Enterprise Inc programme, Suleman is a strong advocate of the scheme:

“The Enterprise Inc programme was massively enjoyable. I am really grateful for the support I received from the University of Leicester and Enterprise Inc. We received guidance and help going through the details of how to set in place your business plan and all the steps you need to go through in order to develop your idea, such as target market, target audience, sales and negotiation. The Enterprise Inc programme is phenomenal for starting your own business.”

Inspired by Suleman’s story? Enterprise Inc. enables final year students and recent graduates to start and run their business venture with a start-up bursary worth £2,500, along with providing business training to develop entrepreneurial and enterprising skills. You can find out more here:
