Embrace Arts hosts Laurence Clark on 21 June

Issued by Embrace Arts on 28 May 2012

Embrace Arts is delighted to host the only comedy show commissioned for the London 2012 Festival next month.

An internationally-acclaimed comedian, presenter, writer and actor who happens to have cerebral palsy, Laurence Clark will be previewing his new show, ‘Inspired’, at the University’s arts centre on Thursday 21 June, prior to taking it to the Edinburgh Festival.

Laurence’s observational, political stand-up comedy and hidden camera footage demonstrate the endearing naivety and ridiculousness of human behaviour by seeing the world through his eyes with humour and warmth.

He and his wife were the subject of a recent major BBC1 documentary, ‘We Won't Drop the Baby’ (28 March 2012), which showed them juggling their daily lives around caring for their two sons.

Laurence is an amazing comedian whose own inimitable style has brought him 25 **** and 7 ***** reviews. Shortlist magazine’s Funniest New Comedian, he has written 5 highly-acclaimed solo shows, is a regular writer for BBC Ouch! and performs and writes sketches for comedy group Abnormally Funny People, resident at London’s Soho Theatre.

Other TV appearances include as a talking head in the BBC2 documentary Are You Having A Laugh?, The Shooting Party (C4), I’m With Stupid (BBC3), Newsnight (BBC2) and The London Programme (ITV).

Tickets for the show, which starts at 8pm, cost just £5 (£4 concessions). To book, visit or call (0116) 252 2455. Embrace Arts is on Lancaster Road, LE1 7HA, between the Maurice Shock Building and the fire station. Free car parking is available next door evenings from 6pm and at weekends. Licensed Arts Bar café.
