Leicester is the latest stop for rising stand-up star Andrew Lawrence on his The Best Kept Secret in Comedy national tour later this month.

The comedian, who describes himself as having “ginger hair, a creepy face and a voice like a sex offender”, is performing his latest solo show at Embrace Arts, the University of Leicester’s arts centre, on Saturday 21 April.

Gillian Garratt, Embrace’s marketing manager, said: “The packed house for his last show here in February 2010 absolutely loved Andrew, and we’re delighted to welcome him back with some more of his verbal acrobatics. With tickets at just £12 (£10 concessions), we’re expecting a sell-out again.”

“Seeing him for the first time is a real experience to remember,” said Paul Banks on a new Leicester Comedy Scene blog. “I guarantee you've never seen or heard anything like him before. And once you've heard his extended rants, self-deprecation and too-much-information honesty, you'll definitely want to see him again.”

Andrew’s stand-up career kick-started when he received rave recognition in all the key new act competitions. He quickly went on to establish himself as a regular favourite on the comedy circuit, gigging at all the major clubs across the country, earning 2010 and 2011 Chortle Best Headliner Nominations and building a base of discerning fans.

As well as growing reputation as a touring artist, Andrew’s TV profile has continued to rise over recent years with a string of high profile appearance on some of UK television’s most high profile comedy shows, including Live At The Apollo, Dave’s One Night Stand, Ask Rhod Gilbert, and as a headliner on C4’s Stand Up For The Week.

The second series of his self-written and performed Radio 4 show, What To Do If You’re Not Like Everybody Else, aired last September. Also a talented actor, Andrew was a regular for three series on the BBC3 hit show Ideal playing the role of Marco.

Tickets (£12 / £10 concessions) are available online at or from the box office on Leicester 252 2455.
