Course Overview

The Student Welfare Service is collaborating with Turning Point to deliver Alcohol and Drugs training which will cover:

  • The different types of substances people use and the effects of these (including NPS)
  • Drug classifications and the law
  • How harm reduction is used to support individuals
  • How healthy lifestyle choices are used to support individuals

What will I get out of this course? 

Aim: To raise awareness of substances and the effects of substances. Also looking at the impact that drug has on an individual level as well as on a societal level.

  • Gain Understanding of what Psychoactive Drugs are
  • Gain understanding of the different drug groups
  • Gain understanding of the law surrounding drugs
  • Gain an understanding of Harm Reduction
  • Gain an understanding of practical approaches to working with drug misuse
