Overview

This session provides an overview of the University’s Professional Educational Excellence Recognition Scheme (PEERS) Experiential Route for gaining Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow) and will include:

  • An introduction to the PEERS Experiential Route which maps to the UK Professional Standards Framework;
  • An explanation about the UK Professional Standards Framework and how the various categories of Fellowships of the Higher Education Academy are aligned to it;
  • The requirements for each of the categories of Fellowship (Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow) and how you can apply through the University’s scheme;
  • Practical guidance on completing your application.

Course dates followed by [*] will be held at University main campus, all other sessions will be held at Leicester Learning Institute, 103-105 Princess Road East, LE1 7LG. 
Venue arrangements will be confirmed to all course delegates nearer to the time of each event.

What will I get out of this course?

You should be able to start engaging with the UKPSF and identify the most appropriate category of Fellowship to describe your work.  You will also be able to start planning your application for Fellowship through the PEERS Experiential Route.

Who is it for?

Staff in teaching/teaching-related roles within the University, including leaders of educational provision.

Participant preparation needed?

None.

What prior experience do I need?

Applicants need to have teaching or supporting learning experience.  To apply for Fellow recognition, staff need to have at least 3 years’ experience undertaking the full range of teaching responsibilities similar to that of a typical lecturer.  At least a year’s experience is required for Associate Fellowship.

Formal assessment?

A successful application for recognition through the PEERS Experiential Route results in Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
