Course Overview

Following on from the Essentials course, this course will introduce you to the additional features which will help to improve your long documents.   After a demonstration you will have time to work through the exercises most useful to you.

What can I expect to cover?

During the course there will be an overview of the features you may want to investigate further. You can then choose which options to cover at your own pace:

  • Captions and table of captions
  • Footnotes and endnotes
  • Indexes

Advanced styles

  • Heading numbering
  • Table of Contents formatting

Page numbers and headers

  • Page numbers
  • Page numbering different sections
  • Section names in headers

What will I get out of this course?

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Caption your figures and tables
  • Add automatic numbering to your headings
  • Know how to control page numbering
  • Know how and when references, advanced styles and header/footer features can be used

What prior experience do I need?

Before attending you must have attended Word Long Document Essentials or already have knowledge of:

  • How to apply and format heading styles
  • How to create an automatic table of contents
  • How to add page and section breaks
