Radiation Safety Training

Course Description

Course Overview

This course covers two main areas, the awareness of the safety problem and the legal framework.

Firstly the awareness of the safety problem which includes the external hazards of Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Neutron and X-ray emitters, internal radiation hazards and basic protection principles as well as radiation effects on the body and the risks.

Secondly we discuss the legal framework such as the basic requirements of the Radioactive Substances Act 1993 and the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999. This part of the session also covers the position of the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive, as well as the main points of the University of Leicester Radiation Protection Rules.

Unfortunately there are no further dates scheduled at present.
When workshop dates are available they will be released and advertised here on the course description.
