Overview

Explains the University’s procurement strategy, what it spends its money on, who is involved in the University’s procurement (including Category Managers) and the University procurement rules and EU procurement law, as well as running through the practicalities of running a procurement process.

What will I get out of this course?
  • The University’s procurement rules
  • EU procurement law
  • The Procurement process, including specification drafting, tender evaluation and contract award
What will I get out of this course?

A fuller understanding of the procurement process, the basis of the rules and law that govern it, and the role that I and others play in the process.

Who is it for?

Non-procurement professionals involved in the procurement process, e.g. gaining quotes or being part of a formal tender process.

Participant preparation needed?

It would be helpful if the participants made themselves familiar with the Procurement section of the University’s intranet site. Whilst the session is based on a Powerpoint presentation, the intention is that it be kept informal with participants contributing their thoughts and experiences and asking questions throughout.

What prior experience do I need? No experience necessary. The course is aimed at those who are likely to be involved in undertaking a procurement exercise (gaining quotes / involved in a formal tender process) during the coming year.

To be delivered by the Head of Procurement or a Category Manager from the Procurement Unit
