This training session engages potential Chairs of Boards of Examiners with the role and responsibilities of the Chair, the regulatory framework which governs the operation of Boards of Examiners, and the other key roles within the assessment and award process.

Completion of this training is a requirement for all non-Heads of Department who wish to be able to act as a Chair of a Board of Examiners.

What will I get out of this course?

A clear understanding of the regulatory and operational framework within which Boards of Examiners operate, the roles of key individuals within the process, and the principles and requirements that underpin the role of conduct of the Board Chair .

Completion of this training course will automatically include you on the University’s register of approved Board of Examiner Chairs (with HOD approval) and therefore allow you to act in this capacity at upcoming Boards.

Who is it for?

Academic members of staff who have been nominated by their Head of Department to Chair Boards of Examiners.

Participant preparation needed?

In preparation for this session participants might find it helpful to read Senate Regulation 7 governing assessment.
