Blackboard is the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used at the University of Leicester.

It is the main technology used by staff to structure and deliver learning resources, and the main technology used by students to support their studies.

As a result, it is important to understand how Blackboard can work for you and your students, and which features it offers to enhance your teaching and your students’ learning.

There are two sides to effective use of Blackboard:

  1. IT Services have a wealth of information on their website about the practical skills needed to use Blackboard, and also run regular training courses in this area.
  2. This website provides help in using Blackboard effectively within learning and teaching: design choices, assessment methods, etc. Begin with one of the sections to the right.
