Audience response systems in the School of Biological Sciences

"Enhancing student engagement and assisting peer learning using voting systems." Cas Kramer, Department of Genetics and Mark Leyland, Department of Biochemistry, University of Leicester

Presented at the Technology Enhanced Learning forum on Thursday 2 July 2015

Recording (10 minutes)

Mark described how he and Cas have used the TurningPoint audience response system with medical students and also in the School of Biological Sciences.

All first year students in Biological Sciences are issued with a TurningPoint 'keepad'.  Cas and Mark have also used TurningPoint with medical students working in small groups.

They have found TurningPoint to be a good way to introduce interactivity into lectures and provide quick and easy feedback for students (and staff). It is easy to use and fits easily into presentations. Mark also gives practical tips for using TurningPoint.
