Summary

In response to new guidelines from our professional accrediting body the British Psychology Society (BPS) the distance learning master’s programme in Occupational Psychology needed to be redesigned.  We needed to consider skills development as well as knowledge development.  In this paper I consider the practical implications of this new requirement.  Some of the solutions we used to develop skills are also outlined.  I look in particular at the development of organisational and problem solving skills in order to deliver assessment centre activity for recruitment and selection purposes.
