Responsibilities/biography

Alex’s main aim is to help students of all ability further develop their academic skills and literacies so they can reach their full potential at University. She does this in four ways; i) through one-to-one consultations with students; ii) through central and departmental workshops with groups of students; iii) by working with academics to effectively support the advancement of academic skills within discipline specific teaching; and iv) through the Peer Assisted Learning programme (accredited by the Leicester Award), which helps establish student-led discussion groups for support on academic skills and transition to HE. In addition, Alex runs the Demonstrating in Practical Classes session for Postgraduate students, based on her experiences as a demonstrator and lab convener.

Alex previously worked as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Biology, at the University of Leicester.
