You've applied, what next?

Upon receipt of your application, an automatic email acknowledgement will be sent to you.

Status of applications

If you would like to check the progress of an application you have made, this can be done at any time by logging into your account online.

Short-listing and interview

A short-list will be drawn up on the basis of your application against a range of defined criteria required to undertake the duties for the post, as outlined in the job description/person specification.  This is usually completed within four weeks of the post's advertised closing date.

InterviewsIf selected for interview, we will contact you and you will be able to book your interview via the candidate portal by logging into your account. We will be in touch with all the details about the interview itself.

Usually, the interview process will involve you attending a formal panel interview with three or more panel members.  The process may also include a test or presentation, a tour of the department or the opportunity to meet other members of staff, either on the same day as the interview or at another time.

In some cases, we may be able to reimburse reasonable travelling to interview expenses.  Where this is the case, full details will be included in your invitation to interview.

If you have any special requirements for the interview day, please contact the Recruitment Team as soon as possible and they will do all they can to help you. 

Documents

If invited to interview, you will need to bring the following documents:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK - our information sheet on eligibility documents provides more details
  • Original certificates for any qualifications which are stated as essential in the job description/person specification for the post.

Feedback

We aim to offer feedback to all candidates on their performance at interview, where possible.  The Department, School or Division to which you applied will usually nominate a contact from the panel of interviewers for you to liaise with.  If you are not sure who this is, please contact the Recruitment Team for further assistance.
