Before you start

Welcome to the University!

We will ask you to use the candidate portal to receive documents such as your letter of employment along with additional documents for your attention.

Please confirm your acceptance of the job and provide us with details to set you up for pay within seven days of your offer being made.  We will need:

  • Bank details
  • P45 or P46
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check form if applicable for the post – you will find further information on the Disclosure and Barring Service webpage.

Please note, that without the documents listed above we cannot pay you or facilitate access to staff services such as an IT account.

Your first day

Please contact your line manager (or agreed nominee) to find out where you should report on your first day.

Transport and Parking

There are various public transport links to the University and discounted tickets are available for staff. We also offer bike storage on campus and the cycle to work scheme. Further information on transport options is available from the Environment Team’s website.

If you intend to travel to work by car, you should check whether parking facilities are available at your location and apply for a permit, where applicable.

Moving to Leicester

If you are relocating to Leicester our Relocation Expenses Scheme will provide further information about how the University can support your move. If you wish to make an application you can use the Relocation Expenses Form.

If you have been sponsored to work at the University because you originate from outside the EEA, you are reminded that you must report any changes in your circumstances (such as changes of address and contact phone numbers) to the University. The University is also obliged to check your documentation annually and you should bring your documents to HR Reception for this purpose.
