University Staff Desktop or Laptop (Windows 7):

You should use Internet Explorer provided on University Staff Desktop or Laptops to access Business Objects. We thoroughly test both Business Objects and Internet Explorer upgrades before they are released to ensure they work and to avoid disruption for users of these systems. You should use Internet Explorer when using Business Objects.

Personal or Standalone Desktop or Laptop

If you are using a personal or standalone Desktop or Laptop, you may be using a different version of Internet Explorer or Java to those installed on University Staff Desktops and Laptops; or a different browser. If you need to use a personal or standalone computer to access Business Objects we recommend you use the same version of IE (11) and Java (8) as installed on University Staff Desktop and Laptop computers. If this is not possible, the browsers and versions of software advertised as compatible with our version of Business Objects are as follows:

  • Firefox ESR 31.x (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)
  • Google Chrome (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)
  • Internet Explorer 8.0(1) (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)
  • Internet Explorer 9.0(1) (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)
  • Internet Explorer 10.0 (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)
  • Internet Explorer 11.0 (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)
  • Safari 7 (Oracle JRE 7 & 8)

The support we offer for users of personal or standalone computers when accessing Business Objects is limited.

The current version has not been tested with Windows 10 and is NOT expected to work with it. So be very wary of upgrading your PCs without explicit testing.
