Origin for Home Use

Staff and Students with a Windows PC (7, 8 or 10) can request Origin to use on their home computer.

Request access to Origin

  1. Complete the Origin request form (login required)
  2. IT Services will then check you are entitled to use Origin, then email you with a code you need to activate the software.

Create an OriginLabs account and obtain Serial Number and Product Key

  1. Once you have received the email from IT Services click the link to create an OriginLabs account, if you do not already have one.
  2. Enter your user details, including your University Email address, and create an Origin UserID and password. Click Register.
    1. A verification email will be sent to the address provided in the registration form.
    2. Click the link provided to validate your account.
    3. Click Continue.
  3. Click the second link in the email received from IT Services to obtain the Serial Number and Product Key required to activate Origin.
  4. Click Request. You will now be sent an email with the Serial Number and Product key needed.

Download Origin

  1. After you have created an OriginLabs account and received the Serial Number and Product Key go to http://www.le.ac.uk/myfiles.
  2. Login with your University IT account username and password.
  3. Navigate to the Home-Use-Programs folder > Origin > Windows.
  4. Click on the version folder required, then right-click the .exe file and click Download.
  5. This is a large file so may take a while to complete.

    When do I need to renew my license?

    The code is time limited and will require you to update the code when necessary.  When you are aware the licence is due to expire or has expired, you will need to complete the Origin request form (login required).
