Google Chrome is a fast, secure, and free web browser, built for the modern web. It is provided as an alternative to Internet Explorer.

Google Chrome is an alternative web browser to the recommended default browsers on Windows (Internet Explorer on Windows 7 or Edge on Windows 10). See the Web browser policy for more information.

Availability

  • Google Chrome is installed on all University PCs
  • Available for home use. Check the terms and conditions before you download.

Chrome extensions

Chrome extensions are small programs which run inside Google Chrome to provide additional functionality or integration with other products, which are available to install by request.

Request a Chrome extension

You can request an extension to be made available for installation by completing a software request form. The extension will then be assessed for compliance with our University Information Security Policy, licence terms and conditions, and other relevant criteria.

Extensions that can be permitted will then be available to install from the Chrome Web Store for all staff and students.
