Audacity® is used for recording and editing audio for use with podcasts, talks and music.

Audacity can be used to:

  • Record live audio
  • Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs
  • Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV or AIFF sound files
  • Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together
  • Change the speed or pitch of a recording


The installation includes the LAME plug-in that allows creation of MP3s.

  • Install using the Software Center for University PCs running Windows 10.
