Lock your Mac

If you are leaving your Mac unattended, you should always lock it. It is also important that you set a password for your Mac.

This will ensure:

  • Confidential information is kept private
  • Someone cannot exploit access to your computer in your absence

How to lock your Mac

You can use either of the two methods to lock your Mac:

  • Press CTRL + SHIFT + EJECT and this will immediately lock your Mac


  1. Launch Keychain Access and go to Preference
  2. Under the General tab, check Show keychain status in menu bar

 3.   Select the padlock icon and choose Lock screen
