Lock your computer

Screen LockIf you are leaving your computer unattended, you should always lock it.

This will ensure:

  • Confidential information is kept private
  • Someone cannot exploit access to your computer in your absence
  • Your personal HR information is only accessible to you

How to lock your computer

Lock your PC

You can use either of two methods to lock you computer:

  1. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE and then choose Lock this computer
    OR
  2. Press the Windows key Windows Key + L

Unlock your computer

  • Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE and then type in your password

Automatic lock

Your computer will automatically lock if you have not used it for 10 minutes.

The automatic screen lock on University staff PCs has changed from 30 minutes to 10 minutes to limit the likelihood of anyone being able to see your confidential information if you do forget to lock your computer.
