Why am I returned to the login page when I try to login to Office 365 services?

Some users have reported issues logging into services such as student email and OneDrive, where they are returned to the login screen after entering a valid username and password.

The issue affects browsers that allow you to re-open your previous tabs or windows, such as Chrome and Firefox. See the guidance for Google Chrome or Firefox below to resolve your issue:

Google Chrome:

Within Chrome this issue may arise if you have the “Continue where you left off” option enabled. If you wish to keep this option you can clear your cookies to resolve your issue:

  1. Follow the guidance on the Chrome support site to: Delete specific cookies or clear all cookies
  2. Search for login.sts.le.ac.uk and remove all the cookies listed for that site as described in the article

Firefox:

Within Firefox this issue may be observed if you have the “Show my windows and tabs from last time” option enabled. If you wish to keep this option you can clear your cookies to resolve your issue:

  1. Follow the guidance on the Firefox support site to: Delete cookies for a single site
  2. Search for login.sts.le.ac.uk and remove all the cookies listed for that site as described in the article
