Choose when to upgrade to Windows 10 individually, as a team or department

With less than a year to go before Windows 7 is no longer supported, it’s essential to upgrade your University PC to Windows 10.

For the next few months, you can do this at a time of your choosing, yourself, as a team or department. After this time, your PC will be upgraded automatically, which may not be at a time convenient to you.

If you’re part of College of Life Sciences or College of Science and Engineering, contact your College IT Team to arrange your Windows 10 upgrade.

Upgrade yourself

See the prepare section of the Windows 10 upgrade project website to find out more.

  1. Complete the Windows 10 upgrade checklist (Word document)
  2. Schedule your upgrade with the IT Service Desk
  3. Upgrade and benefit from Windows 10

Upgrade as a team or department

  1. Nominate someone to coordinate your upgrade – a 'Windows 10 champion'
  2. The Windows 10 champion will collect details about your team/department and compile the Windows 10 upgrade checklist for each person
  3. The Windows 10 champion will then schedule your team/department upgrade with the IT Service Desk

Why upgrade to Windows 10?

  • Office 2016 is installed, which brings many improvements including better integration with Office 365
  • You’ll be able to login and restart your University PC much quicker
  • A more modern and supported operating system, which brings new features and improved security

Windows 10 enhanced support

After you upgrade to Windows 10, you will have access to enhanced support for your University PC for up to ten days after you upgrade.
