Default programs have been updated on University PCs

From Monday, 17 February 2020 all University PCs now use Google Chrome as the default web browser, PDF files will open with Adobe Acrobat Reader and if you click on an email, it will open in Outlook 2016.

What

Following staff and student feedback, the default programs/apps that open when you click on a file or link will be updated on all University PCs.

What’s changing?

The following settings will be updated on all University PCs from Monday, 17 February 2020.

Setting Opens with (currently) Opens with (from 17 February)
Web browser* or link Microsoft Edge Google Chrome
PDF file Microsoft Edge Adobe Acrobat Reader
Email Mail Outlook 2016

* This will implement Google Chrome as the default browser as defined in the Web browser policy.

If you already use Google Chrome as your web browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader for opening PDF files or Outlook 2016 when you click on an email, you won’t notice any change.
