Setup a PIN to access Microsoft apps on your mobile device

As part of the OneDrive launch and to ensure your University data is secure, staff and postgraduate researchers will now need to setup and use a PIN when they use Microsoft apps on a mobile device. This affects apps that are currently in use like Yammer and Skype for Business.

Enter your PINIt is really important that your University documents are stored securely when using Office mobile apps on your personal mobile phone or tablet and to ensure that you comply with the University information security policies.

However it is recognised that entering your complex University password every time you use the app would be inconvenient. So instead you will need to enter a 4-digit PIN when you first use the app and occasionally thereafter.

  • If you have an Apple IOS or Android device that supports Touch ID, you may optionally login using your fingerprint sensor. You will still need to setup a PIN.
  • You will not need to enter a PIN for any personal accounts you have setup on your device, so these will be unaffected
