Staff and Postgraduate Researchers can install Microsoft Office at no cost

Office Pro Plus for Staff allows staff and Postgraduate Researchers to install and use the full version of Microsoft Office whilst you work or study at the University.

Office has been available to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students at the University since June 2014. Microsoft has extended this so that Staff and postgraduate researchers can benefit. Now everyone at the University can have the full version of Office on their home PC, Mac or mobile device.

What’s available?

You can download and install Microsoft Office on up to five PCs or Macs free of charge. You will be asked for your full University email address (ending in to check that you are a member of staff or a Postgraduate Researcher.

After you’ve installed Office ProPlus you must connect your PC, laptop or mobile to the internet at least once every 30 days to verify that you are still eligible for the program.

Home Use Program withdrawn

Office ProPlus for Staff will replace the Home Use program. Any one that has taken advantage of the Home Use program can continue to use Office under this license; however, the IT Service Desk will no longer be issuing HUP Codes.


Office Pro Plus allows you to store files on OneDrive. Whilst this may be acceptable for personal files, you should make sure that you comply with the University’s Information Security policies for files that are part of your work at the University.
