Ensure you reboot your University PC tomorrow, Friday 17 January 2020

A very important security update is being released to University PCs this afternoon, which requires a reboot to complete. Ensure you restart your computer before you leave tomorrow afternoon, Friday 17 January 2020.


You may have seen news reports (e.g. Windows 10: NSA reveals major flaw in Microsoft's code – BBC news) which relate to a security vulnerability, discovered by the US National Security Agency (NSA), which affects Windows 10 PCs.

Microsoft have released a fix for this vulnerability, which is being applied to University PCs this afternoon. It’s important that you restart your PC once this update has completed and at least by the end of tomorrow, Friday 17 January 2020, so that your PC is protected.


Thursday, 16 January 2020 Microsoft fix will be released to all University PCs and will install automatically
Friday, 17 January 2020 Reboot your PC before the end of the day
