Maintenance affecting University PCs, Personal Z: and Shared Departmental X: drives: Saturday 9 – Sunday 10 June 2018

Important maintenance is being carried out during the weekend of Saturday 9 to Sunday 10 June 2018. This will affect Windows PC logins and access to the Personal Z: drive or Shared Departmental X: drives.

What?

Essential maintenance is planned to verify Disaster Recover of the University storage system, which is required to login to a University PC or access the Personal Z: drive and Shared Departmental X: drives.

The work will be carried out from 8.00am Saturday 9 June through to 4.00pm Sunday 10 June 2018.

If you need to work during the at risk’ period - Save your work regularly.

Why?

We are doing this work to ensure that the University storage system can be failed over to a second system in the event of a disaster.

What will be unavailable?

You will not be able to use the following during the maintenance period:

  • Login to a University PC, including all PCs used by students and staff
  • Access to Personal Z: drive and Shared Departmental X: drive folders
  • Remote access to files using MyFiles.

What will be available?

All other IT services should be unaffected.

When?

Work is anticipated to be complete by 4.00pm on Saturday 9 June but the service should be considered 'at risk' until Sunday 10 June at 4.00pm in case remediation work is required.
