Intune Managed browser app no longer required

You no longer need to install and use the Intune Managed browser app, when you want to open a link from the Microsoft Outlook or other Microsoft mobile app.

What has changed?

Previously, the Intune Managed browser app was required to be installed and used when viewing a link from a Microsoft app.

Now, when you open a link in a Microsoft app (e.g. Microsoft Outlook) the link will either open in the default mobile browser or offer you a choice of which browser you’d like the link to open in.

You may wish to uninstall the Intune Managed browser app, as it is no longer required.

For Android phone users you will still need to use the Intune Company Portal, which is required to allow you to use the Mobile app PIN.

This change was introduced from Wednesday 2 August 2017.

Why

We’ve been considering the limited additional security provided by the managed browser. Taking this into account and feedback from staff, we are no longer going to make it a requirement to use the Intune Managed browser.
