Email distribution groups now manageable again

The membership of email distributions groups (mailing lists) can be modified again.

Following the staff email upgrade, staff who had permission to manage email distribution groups were not able to modify the membership. They had needed to contact the IT Service Desk to make changes. This is no longer necessary.

What do I need to do?

From now on you can modify the membership of email distribution groups you have access to. You can add or remove members from Outlook or Outlook on the web. For more information see the mailing lists page on the IT Services website.

When was the change made?

This was successfully completed between 7.00am and 9.00am on Tuesday 25 July 2017. During the change, there was a period of up to a minute where emails wouldn't have been delivered to a distribution group whilst they are updated.

If an email was sent to a distribution group at this time, it would have failed to be sent and an email not deliverable message would be sent back to the sender. At this point, the sender would have needed to send the email again.
