Upgrade your University Mac to MacOS Sierra

If your University Mac is running OS X Yosemite (v10.10.x) you should upgrade to macOS Sierra soon as possible, as Yosemite will not be supported soon. You can use Mac Self Service to upgrade if you are on the Mac Assurance Service. macOS High Sierra is not recommended whilst testing is carried out.

What's new?

MacOS Sierra includes support for Siri, improved security, Apple Pay and more.

How do I upgrade?

If you are using the Mac Assurance Service you will be able to upgrade using Mac Self Service if your University Mac is compatible. If your Mac is manually assured then you can upgrade from the Mac App Store.

macOS High Sierra is not recommended whilst testing is carried out.

Is my Mac compatible?

The following Macs are compatible:

  • iMac (late 2009 or later)
  • MacBook (late 2009 or later)
  • MacBook Air (late 2010 or later)
  • MacBook Pro (mid 2010 or later)
  • Mac mini (mid 2010 or later)
  • Mac Pro (mid 2010 or later)

If your Mac is not compatible, you will not see the option to upgrade at this current time.
