Revised dates: Multiple systems unavailable: Friday 1 December 4pm – Tuesday 5 December 2017 5pm

Essential maintenance is scheduled to upgrade the University’s Identity Management System, between 4pm on Friday 1 December and 5pm on Tuesday 5 December 2017. During this period, multiple systems reliant on the software and hardware will be unavailable. Therefore, you are advised, where possible, to undertake activities affected outside of this period.

What

The University’s Identity Management System will be upgraded over a period of four days. During this period, multiple services reliant on the system will either be unavailable or experience delays to service.

Why

This upgrade is required for essential maintenance to the software and hardware underpinning the University Identity Management system.

What will be affected?

The following services will be unavailable during the maintenance:

  • Student registration, via MyStudentRecord
  • Management of X drive permissions will be unavailable to X:drive coordinators
  • Email alerts for account and password expiry will not be sent
  • Self Service password resets and registrations
  • Changed information will not update in downstream systems (e.g. the Maxxess door access system, BlackBoard, AMS, Library, Lecture Capture, XN etc.)
  • The ID Card production system
  • Business Objects reports which rely on Shadowverse data.

The following services will be delayed during the maintenance:

  • New staff account creation using the Service Desk web interface
  • Creation and management of email distribution groups, mailman lists and security groups
  • The creation of short course, departmental and externals accounts
  • Requests to the IT Services’ Service Desk for some account activities (e.g. override end dates, account disablements)
  • Management of friendly names.

What will be available?

All other IT services should be unaffected.

Monday 4 December 2017 8.00am – Thursday 7 December 5.00pm [UK time] 

The above services will be unavailable or experience delays during this time.
