Restricted access to University websites – Thursday 9 January 2014 7.30am - 10.00am

Important maintenance is required to University websites on Thursday 9 January 2014 between 7.30am - 10.00am. At this time, you will not be able to login to edit pages and complete forms.

What

Maintenance will be carried out which will affect webpages on Plone, which have an address starting with http://www2.le.ac.uk, and those provided by CWIS which have addresses starting with http://www.le.ac.uk.

All University webpages will remain accessible but they will be read-only; you will not be able to login to edit pages or submit forms whilst the maintenance is carried out. However, some essential forms such the course, telephone and email directories will continue to work.

If you attempt to login or are currently logged in you will see a message saying that it is not possible to login due to the maintenance. Forms will show a message saying that they are disabled. If you connect to Plone using WebDAV or CWIS via SFTP this will also be disabled.

What won't be available?

You will not be able to use the following during the maintenance:

Plone

CWIS

  • Access via SFTP

What will be available?

All other IT services should be unaffected.

Why?

The maintenance will allow a new Operating System to be installed on the servers that host University websites. This will ensure that they remain secure and can be supported.
