USA - Sarah

Sarah - USASarah travelled from the USA to the UK to study Museum Studies MA at Leicester.

How did you discover the University of Leicester?

I heard about the school from an alumna who was on the same course I am on today. I chose to come here because I knew I would receive the highest quality education I could get for my field of study from the very professionals and academics leading the field today.

Did you find it easy to adjust to living in Leicester?

I found everyone that I met very friendly and genuinely helpful. It took some time to get my bearings, but I soon adjusted. Leicester quickly became familiar and easy to navigate. Before long it felt like home!

There were plenty of opportunities to meet other international students, including International Welcome Week. But I mostly enjoyed just getting to know other international students in my programme. I love how diverse and welcoming Leicester is!

What are the best things about living and studying at Leicester?

Because it is so diverse, it is very easy to fit in and feel like you belong. Because everyone is so kind, you immediately feel welcome. Because the quality of education is so high, you can confidently carry the name of the university with you wherever you go.

There is so much to see and do around the city! I love walking and biking in the parks, exploring the local museums, and meeting up with friends in city centre.

After you have graduated from Leicester, what are your plans for the future?

I plan to go back to America and get a job in the museum sector. And tell everyone who wants to work in museums to come to Leicester!

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about studying at Leicester?

Do it! It is an experience you will not regret and one that will positively impact your life. The city is fun to get to know and a perfect place to travel from. The University is an exciting and valuable place to be - especially the School of Museum Studies!
