China - Jingjing

Jingjing - ChinaJingjing travelled from China to the UK and is studying for a Management PhD at Leicester.

How did you discover the University of Leicester?

I got to know the University of Leicester by researching the University’s ranking and also the strength of Management study. I chose the research degree at Leicester because I had a strong willingness to follow my supervisors’ research interest.

How easy was the application process?

It’s a straightforward application process at Leicester and I received great support from Management school to speed up my application progress.

Did you find it easy to adjust to living in Leicester?

I spent the first week setting up and also meeting my supervisors. It was easy for me because I had visited Leicester while I did my Master’s degree at Nottingham. The University accommodation I lived in, Nixon Court, provided me with lots of essential information.

The Management school organised social event for all students and staff to meet, which is a great event. There are also International Welcome events which help students a lot.

What are the best things about living and studying at Leicester?

The guidance and care I received from my supervisors is really impressive and makes me love the University so much. The International Office at Leicester University is also really helpful with solving the difficulties we face as an international student.

When you're not studying, what do you enjoy doing in your free time at Leicester?

Leicester is famous for sports, so I went to watch rugby and had a lot of fun!

After you have graduated from Leicester, what are your plans for the future?

I plan to become a lecturer at a university, to spread the knowledge and research skills I gained from the University of Leicester.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about studying at Leicester?

I advise students to be motivated and to use resources provided by the University, such as the library and International Office and to make regular contact with the academic department.
