China - Jiayun

JiayunJiayun travelled from China to the UK to study Financial Economics BA at Leicester.

How did you discover the University of Leicester?

In China I studied at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, which offers a 2+2 study programme with the University of Leicester. This enabled me to travel to the UK to join Leicester for my third and fourth years of study.

After I researched information about Leicester, I found that the rank of the University is high and the city is in a very convenient location.

How easy was the application process?

My teachers at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies helped me a lot with the application process and obtaining my transcripts. I also provided evidence of my English language skills by submitting my IELTS test results.

Did you find it easy to adjust to living in Leicester?

It’s no exaggeration to say that I really enjoy my life in Leicester. When I arrived I adjusted to my new life immediately. The local people, teachers and my fellow students at Leicester are so friendly.

The University Student’s Union prepare a lot of events to enable students to make friends and help us solve problems if needed.

The student societies are abundant at the University of Leicester. I participated in the badminton team and riding club. These activities are so amazing and my life became so colourful because I joined these societies.

What are the best things about living and studying at Leicester?

Living and studying at Leicester is unforgettable. The weather in Leicester is much better than other parts of the UK, and being located near the city centre is very convenient.

In my free time I like to go shopping with my friends in the city centre, which has a large shopping mall called Highcross.

The Leicester University campus is also very nice. I would rate the library to be five-star compared to the libraries at other universities. I think that Leicester’s library should be ranked amongst the best in my opinion.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about studying at Leicester?

The study life in Leicester is fantastic and unforgettable for me. I hope that every student enjoys their life at the University of Leicester.
