Sabina SalahovaSabina travelled from Azerbaijan to the UK to study MSc Accounting and Finance at Leicester.

How did you discover the University of Leicester?

Before applying to universities in the United Kingdom I researched their facilities and Leicester University attracted my attention. I also have friends who had previously studied there, which is probably the biggest reason for me choosing the University of Leicester.

The application process was very easy, but if you have any difficulties, the friendly university staff will help you without hesitation.

Did you find it easy to adjust to living in Leicester?

After arriving at Leicester, I found it extremely easy and enjoyable to adjust my new surroundings. Life in Leicester is wonderful. The University has many facilities to offer students and the Students’ Union organises frequent events. There is also a welcome week specifically for international students to meet and become friends. You won’t find it difficult settling into student life here.

What are the best things about living and studying at Leicester?

When I arrived at Leicester I fell in love with the city immediately. I graduated in MSc Accounting and Finance and had amazing tutors. All were very friendly and always tried to help with any difficulties I had. In my opinion, Leicester is one of the best universities in UK because of its rich library. The David Wilson Library was like a second home while I was studying and the Library Café is an amazing place to relax.

Leicester itself is a safe city and I especially liked the variety of coffee shops and parks the city has to offer. I enjoyed Leicester so much during my studies and have unforgettable memories of the city and the friendships I made there.

What have you done since graduating from Leicester?

I currently work as an accountant at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) but I’m planning to return to the University of Leicester in a few years to study for my PhD. I hope to realize my dream soon.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about studying at Leicester?

Based on my own experiences, Leicester is the best choice for living and studying. My advice to new students is to enjoy the city, University and campus while you are there. I wish good luck to all students and I want to thank to all my tutors and university staff.
