Undergraduate Exchange Students (Taught Modules)

You can access a list of undergraduate (Bachelor)-level modules on our Module/Course Database. Check carefully whether your modules will run in the first or second semester, or both. You should select modules in the area of studies for your exchange (your 'Home Department').

You can apply for modules from other departments within the University but there are many restrictions. You can also choose from a range of English Language classes to help support your academic studies or to improve your language skills whilst you are at Leicester.

Some modules are restricted to students majoring in that subject or have specific prerequisites. All modules are subject to availability and may change without notice. All departments reserve the right to refuse students' module choices on academic grounds.

There are restrictions on modules in the following departments: Economics, French, Spanish. Certain modules cannot be confirmed before arrival in Leicester.

Please note that the restrictions on English Literature have been lifted. However, you can only join these if your command of English will allow it, i.e. you speak English at C1 or above.

Please state on your application form whether your module choices are compulsory or optional.

You need to choose 60 Leicester credits (30 ECTS) per semester.

Postgraduate Exchange students

If you wish to participate in a Masters or a PhD research exchange, please check first with your Erasmus Coordinator at your home University. There are a limited number of opportunites at Leicester for postgraduate Erasmus exchanges. For study at this level, you must meet the University's English Language requirements.

Research Projects

If you wish to complete a research project during your Erasmus study period, please enclose details of the project with the application, stating the number of ECTS credits and whether or not you require an academic supervisor at Leicester. We require your academic referee to confirm that this is a requirement for your degree.

Please note that research projects are only considered if they are an agreed part of the Erasmus exchange. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to find a suitable supervisor.

Learning Agreements and Credits

You will need to bring a Learning Agreement to the University of Leicester, signed by your home university, to ensure that the modules chosen will be accepted by your home university.

The University of Leicester has a credit system easily compatible with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). 1 ECTS = 2 Leicester Credits.
