Global Opportunities Team

The Global Opportunities team is part of the Future Students Office at the University of Leicester. We are specifically responsible for student and staff exchanges and study abroad links with universities worldwide.

Within the Global Opportunities team, we all have our own special areas of responsibility and expertise, but we also work as a team, so that even when some staff are away from the office, your enquiries will be dealt with as promptly as possible.

Head of Global Opportunities

Clare Banfa, Associate Director (Mobility)Clare Mytton

Clare leads the management of Global Opportunities team, in order to ensure effective infrastructure for student mobility and international student placements. In particular, she: provides leadership for the student and staff mobility programmes; leads the review and strategic management of student placement policies and processes relating to the recruitment and admission of international students; and manages the strategic use of University funding to support scholarship programmes.


Study Abroad

We are responsible for managing partnerships and student exchanges with universities outside the EU.

Peter HoughPeter Hough, Study Abroad Manager

Peter manages institutional relationships and partnership agreements for all Study Abroad and international (non-Erasmus) student exchanges. Within the University he provides specialist support to academic departments on student exchange matters and pastoral support to both incoming and outgoing Study Abroad students. He leads on marketing and communications for outward student mobility programmes and cultural study tours.

Irene is responsible for supporting both inbound and outbound Study Abroad students. She liaises with internal Study Abroad departmental coordinators, provides support for outgoing students before, after, and during their studies abroad, and works to welcome new students to Leicester from outside the EU.



We handle Erasmus staff and student exchanges within the EU, and manage partnerships under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility schemes.

Lucy Stubbs, Erasmus+ Coordinator


Lucy is responsible for all aspects of Erasmus+ Key Action 1 (KA1) student and staff exchanges, Erasmus+ partner universities relationship management, line management and guidance of the Study Abroad Advisers. Lucy is also responsible for providing information to departments about all aspects of the Erasmus+ KA1 schemes, management of incoming Erasmus+ and Study Abroad student administration, calculation and payment of all Erasmus+ student and staff grants.

nallinapattni.jpgNalina Pattni, Study Abroad Adviser (Erasmus)

Nalina is responsible for Erasmus+ Key Action 1 (KA1) student and staff exchange administration. This includes maintaining records of all incoming and outgoing Erasmus exchanges, liaising with Erasmus partner universities and processing Erasmus funding. Nalina’s role also includes the promotion of Erasmus opportunities at the University of Leicester. Nalina is the Equal Opportunities and BME representative for the International Office.

Departmental Coordinators

Students currently studying degree programmes at the University of Leicester are invited to contact their departmental coordinator to discuss how to participate in the Study Abroad and Erasmus+ programme, including what destinations are available, whether they meet the eligibility requirements, and for any academic questions they may have regarding the programme, including credit transfer.
