Records Management Policy

The objective of the University Records Management Policy is to ensure that all records held by the University are managed in a consistent and effective manner, from their creation to their eventual destruction or selection for permanent archiving.

The University Records Management Policy sets out requirements and recommendations, relating to:

  • The creation and maintenance of records.
  • Appropriate measures that should be taken to ensure records are kept secure from theft, as well as damage or destruction resulting from fire, flooding or other causes.
  • Ensuring compliance with laws and the terms of contracts.
  • Ensuring records are retained in line with agreed timescales and are disposed of at the end of that time period, either by being destroyed or being identified for permanent preservation.

Failure to comply with University Policy may lead to disciplinary action.
