Flexible Working

Flexible Working

The University recognises the contribution of all staff.

However, it also recognises that some staff may find it more difficult to fulfil domestic, family and working commitments.

Where this occurs, the University will consider practical help through flexible working arrangements.  The Flexible Working Policy and Procedure are non-contractual.

The Flexible Working Policy relates to working arrangements in terms of working time, location and patterns of work.  The Flexible Working Procedure outlines the formal mechanism for requesting flexible working, in line with statutory requirements.

Examples of Flexible Working include:

  • Part-time working
  • Variable weekly hours or weekend/evening shifts
  • Zero-hours contracts
  • Job sharing
  • Term-time working
  • Compressed hours (ie working full-time hours but within a shorter week)
  • Working from Home/Teleworking
