Honorary Professor

The title of Honorary Professor is awarded to an individual of national or international standing in their field, who will be making a significant and regular contribution equivalent to that of a substantive university professor when assessed against the normal criteria for promotion to Personal Chair, and following the consideration of external assessors' reports.

Candidates will be assessed on a number of different criteria including, but not limited to:

  • An extensive and international reputation for research and/or enterprise;
  • Successful leadership of significant research collaborations (where appropriate);
  • Innovative practice on the delivery of high-quality education;
  • Outstanding professional achievement;
  • Recognition as a leading expert within their profession or occupation;
  • Entrepreneurial activity;
  • Unique contributions to their area of expertise.
