HR Development Pool

Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to view this page.  The Division of Human Resources is fully committed to the University’s Strategic Plan, with particular focus on the Discovering People Pillar.

As a result of this, the Nurturing and Developing People Pillar Team have created the HR Development Pool.

Purpose

The purpose of this pool is to identify suitable developmental opportunities within the following HR teams:

  • Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion;
  • Health and Wellbeing;
  • HR Advisory;
  • HR Business Support;
  • Management and Support;
  • Organisational Development;
  • Recruitment.

This may range from informal pieces of work to full support for a specific project.  The duration of each opportunity will vary on a piece-by-piece basis.

We hope that this will develop a solid foundation of a culture in HR, by which colleagues feel that they:

  • Are supported and valued to be the best they can be in their role, or exposure to a different career path;
  • Have a tool to manage the risks associated with key positions within HR, therefore, encouraging proactive workforce planning;
  • Increase HR employee retention and satisfaction, by providing opportunities within their areas of interest;
  • Are supported to develop skills and have an ability to be up-skilled;
  • Can confidently put themselves forward, and feel positive about opportunities to enhance their skill sets and attributes;
  • Are part of developing a culture in which HR can recruit/use internal skills before advising externally to fill posts;
  • Have a platform in which colleagues can be nurtured in their HR careers.

Current Opportunities

As at 1 June 2017, the following development opportunities have been identified by the Human Resources Management Team, and are now open to colleagues who may be interested.

If you have an opportunity you would like to offer to colleagues, please complete an on-line form and email this to Irfaan BobatThis will then be added to the web page for you.

Process

To register your interest in any of the opportunities available, please complete the on-line form that has been created (a separate form is required for each different opportunity you wish to apply for).  We would recommend that colleagues who are interested in an opportunity discuss this with their line manager prior to completing an application to ensure this is mutually beneficial, and to consider any impact to workload.

All expressions of interest will be reviewed periodically, and matched accordingly, wherever possible.  Follow-up communication will then be made in person.
