Managing controversy

If your research is funded by an external body, it is important that they approve a press release before it is sent out to the media to ensure they are happy with the content, preventing backlash from them over any coverage. It is also important that there is a reference to them at some point in the release.

The vast majority of interviews are straight forward and will not involve you in any controversy.  However, if you feel that you are being asked to comment beyond your expertise or on a corporate level, please refer the journalist to the press office: Ather Mirza, 0116 252 3335,
